Facilitation Work

The projects that took place at Heath Hospital in Cardiff were designed for older adults during the duration of their hospital stay. The artwork they created was inspired by their interests and precious memories.

The participants engaged in many different workshops that expanded over a 12-week time scale. These included making bunting decorate their space in the hospital, giving patients a more comfortable stay, navigating away from the bleak white walls of the hospital.

The main aim of these projects was to cause a distraction for the participants, helping them to stay occupied during their stay. Not only offering a creative activity but also some company as many of the participants explained how they tended to feel quite lonely during their time in hospital.

Facilitation in a School

Two different projects took place in an SEN secondary school located in South Wales. The first project was aimed for participants to build up their own storybooks. Each week a session took place to create artwork based around a selected story of the week. Over the 14 week project, the participants were able to learn new artistic skills alongside making new friends and building on their personal well-being and confidence. The project was a success with participants showing progression as the weeks grew on.

The second project at the school aimed to experiment with a wide range of materials and techniques. These workshops really captured the therapeutic processes, something of which allowed participants to engage in flow and really get the most out of the sessions that took place.

Participants enjoyed different workshops such as Hydro dipping, spin painting, string painting and many more different therapeutic activities.
